Hello Lincoln Families,

We had a successful week wrapping up the fractions math unit! Next week's focus in math will be reviewing and reteaching for students who need extra support. We will plan on starting unit 3 after the break. We will also wrap up our science unit on the Birth of Rocks next week! Next Friday we will have our holiday party. It will begin before lunch and finish in the afternoon. Our class clips will be on the floor soon! So we will also watch a movie. This Week's Academic Focus

Reading: Students all have a new individual reading goal that has been recorded in their "reader's notebooks". We will continue meeting weekly in small groups and individual reading conferences. These strategies are intended to be added to their "reading tool kit". The whole class goal will be to focus on the Main idea/details in fiction.

Writing: Free writes to include personal essays

Math:  We will begin Unit 3 after the holiday break. This week we will play review games including fluency, IXL Diagnostic, and play Breakout Edu.

Illustrative Mathematics. (Here is the link if you are interested in looking at the program).

Science: We were able to do lesson 3, Will a mountain last forever? We will conclude with lesson 4, How can you survive a landslide? We will review and plan on taking the unit test before break.

Social Studies:  The focus will be Human Geography in the United States and the push & pull factors of migration to America. I will use different interactive read alouds along with this unit to give our class background knowledge for certain historical events that have taken place regarding migration. This unit preludes a big historical presentation that each 4th grader will do that will take a few months to complete. More information is to come.

Positivity Project focus this week is Other People Matter: Self-Control.

Important Information

We have a peanut-sensitive classroom. Below is a list of snacks and foods allowed in our classroom for everyday snacks, and holiday parties. All of these items need to be packaged and bought from a store, unopened with visible food labels. No homemade items.
In addition, please make sure that everyday snacks sent in are also quick and easy for your child to handle. For example please no yogurt, pudding, uncut fruit, or messy items for everyday snacks. This avoids spilling on our school devices, furniture, etc.  Thank you for your understanding.

We love to celebrate birthdays! For students who would like to celebrate their birthdays in our class please bring in non-food items. For example instead of cupcakes maybe pencils.
