Free October Clip Art Pictures - Clipartix

Hello Lincoln Families,

The Halloween Party will be on October 29th from 1:20-2:20. The parade is at 3:15. Our class voted on what they wanted to do for the party. The results (almost 100%) wanted a movie, game and to do Halloween Art Hub! Students can change into their costumes after lunch or wear their costumes to school. No masks or accessories are to be worn during the school day but can be worn during the parade. We have a parent committee that signed up to send in food. It should be a low-key but fun party! Have a great week!

This week's academic focus

Reading: We will continue meeting weekly in small groups and individual reading meetings will begin this week. These strategies are intended to be added to their "reading tool kit".  Using Jewell Parker Rhoades Falling Towers as an interactive read-aloud, we will focus on asking questions while reading. The mini-lesson focus this week will be to analyze character traits in a text. It's possible to use more than one reading strategy at a time. These strategies cover comprehension, accuracy, fluency, and expanding vocabulary. Students will be presenting their reading goals at conferences.

Writing: We are working on adding details and writing "thought shots" to writing, as well as how to develop a paragraph for personal narrative writing. This week's focus will be adding character traits into the details of their story.

Math:   In Unit 2 this week focus is on fractions on a number line and relating fractions to find equivalence.

Here is a link to families for Unit 2: Fraction Equivalence and Comparison

Illustrative Mathematics. (Here is the link if you are interested in looking at the program).

Science: We will do the lesson on Sound and Vibrations and explore answers to the question. We will be wrapping up this unit and reviewing it over this next week.

Social Studies:  The focus of the next two weeks will be to explore questions economists and political scientists ask along with understanding the vocabulary that they use. Here are all the units for SS. We will begin with Unit 1.

Positivity Project focus this week is Creativity.

Important Information

We have a peanut-sensitive classroom. Below is a list of snacks and foods allowed in our classroom for everyday snacks, and holiday parties. All of these items need to be packaged and bought from a store, unopened with visible food labels. No homemade items.
In addition, please make sure that everyday snacks sent in are also quick and easy for your child to handle. For example please no yogurt, pudding, uncut fruit, or messy items for everyday snacks. This avoids spilling on our school devices, furniture, etc.  Thank you for your understanding.

We love to celebrate birthdays! For students who would like to celebrate their birthdays in our class please bring in non-food items. For example instead of cupcakes maybe pencils.
