Hello Lincoln Families,

Please make sure you scroll down below my letter. There is a lot of important information for the next few weeks.

This Wednesday, January 12th, we will begin NWEA testing in math in the morning. The following week will be reading. If you are able to keep your child in school especially in the mornings, it would be helpful. It is a mandatory test and make-ups can be challenging. Thank you for your consideration!

We had a fantastic first week back to school! Students are rested and ready to learn! Students have been working on "student-goal" slides that are posted in Google classroom. I encourage you to have a conversation with your child to discuss the reading, writing, or math goal they have chosen. Most students will need help not only with the support of their peers and teacher but you as well! You are welcome to go over the goal slides and help edit/revise as needed. These will be published and posted in the hallway on our classroom writers' wall! Thank you for your support. 😊

4th-grade music program information:

Dear Lincoln School 4th Grade Parents,

Just a reminder: The 4th-grade program will be on January 19 at 2:30pm in the gym. Then that evening at 5:30 pm at the HS auditorium   Our Program Theme is year is “We are Lincoln School,  We are America” The students can wear Patriotic colors (Red, White, and Blue) for the show.  Students will follow the signs and report to the HS Choir room no earlier than 5:15. Please take your student's coats and belongings with you to your seat so they can leave the show right from the stage!   Families, please wait to be seated until the other performance has ended. All the elementary schools are performing on the same night but at different times.  Thank you again for all your support. The students can’t wait to show you all their hard work!

     Thank You,  Rachelle McElroy

Book Club Information from Mrs. Gruchot:

Hey 4th and 5th graders, it’s a new year and time for the Lincoln Book Club to get started!  Any 4th or 5th-grade student who would like to join the Lincoln Lunchtime book club, please come to the media center to pick up a sign-up form.  We will meet once a month until the end of the year to discuss our book for the month.

Our first book will be Fish in a Tree.

We have a limited number of books, so we may not be able to accept everyone who wants to join.  Return your sign-up sheet, with your parent’s permission, by Monday, January 10th, and Mrs. Gruchot will get the book to you that day.

Our first meetings will be the week of January 31st.  All book club meetings will be at your lunchtime in the media center.

These strategies are intended to be added to their "reading tool kit". The whole class goal will be to focus on the main idea/details in non-fiction.

Social Studies:  The focus will be Human Geography in the United States and the push & pull factors of migration to America. I will use different interactive read alouds along with this unit to give our class background knowledge for certain historical events that have taken place regarding migration. This unit preludes a big historical presentation that each 4th grader will do that will take a few months to complete. More information is to come.

Positivity Project focus this week is Prudence.

Important Information

We have a peanut-sensitive classroom. Below is a list of snacks and foods allowed in our classroom for everyday snacks, and holiday parties. All of these items need to be packaged and bought from a store, unopened with visible food labels. No homemade items.
In addition, please make sure that everyday snacks sent in are also quick and easy for your child to handle. For example please no yogurt, pudding, uncut fruit, or messy items for everyday snacks. This avoids spilling on our school devices, furniture, etc.  Thank you for your understanding.

We love to celebrate birthdays! For students who would like to celebrate their birthdays in our class please bring in non-food items. For example instead of cupcakes maybe pencils.
