Hello Lincoln Families,
This Tuesday morning, January 18th, we will begin NWEA testing. If you are able to keep your child in school especially in the mornings, it would be helpful. Also, please make sure your child has their Chromebooks charged and packed for Tuesday morning! Thank you for your consideration!
Students are finished with their "student-goal" slides posted in Google classroom. The final copy is now published and posted in our hallway on our "Writers' Wall". Now that they have finished, I encourage you to have a conversation with your child to discuss how they are going to practice their goal at home. Most students will need help not only with the support of their peers and teacher but you as well! Thank you for your support. 😊
The 4th-grade music program is this Wednesday, January 19th!
Dear Lincoln School 4th Grade Parents,
Just a reminder: The 4th-grade program will be on January 19 at 2:30pm in the gym. Then that evening at 5:30 pm at the HS auditorium Our Program Theme is year is “We are Lincoln School, We are America” The students can wear Patriotic colors (Red, White, and Blue) for the show. Students will follow the signs and report to the HS Choir room no earlier than 5:15. Please take your student's coats and belongings with you to your seat so they can leave the show right from the stage! Families, please wait to be seated until the other performance has ended. All the elementary schools are performing on the same night but at different times. Thank you again for all your support. The students can’t wait to show you all their hard work!

This Week's Academic Focus
Reading: Students all have a new individual reading goal that has been recorded in their "reader's notebooks". We will continue meeting weekly in small groups and individual reading conferences. These strategies are intended to be added to their "reading tool kit". The whole class goal will be to focus on the main idea/details in non-fiction including using text features in the text.
Writing: Our focus will be on persuasive writing. 4th graders are given a thesis statement and will learn how to develop a five-paragraph paper, using the writing process, to convince or persuade a reader of their opinion.
Math: Unit 3 Extending Operations to Fractions this week.

Science: Energizing Everything will be our next unit of study. Students will explore energy, energy transfer, and electricity.

Social Studies: The focus will be Human Geography in the United States and the push & pull factors of migration to America. I will use different interactive read alouds along with this unit to give our class background knowledge for certain historical events that have taken place regarding migration. This unit preludes a big historical presentation that each 4th grader will do that will take a few months to complete. More information is to come.
Positivity Project focus this week is Perseverance.
